CDM & Our Planet
At Country Day Montessori we actively participate in several conservation programs and support many such endeavors around the globe.
Programs such as:
Saving Our Rainforests: The children of CDM are actively involved in saving the earth's endangered rainforests. In conjunction with the Nature Conservancy, the children are encouraged to collect pennies throughout the year by doing "earth-friendly" chores. In addition, CDM has an ongoing recycling program as well as a T-shirt sale to support this endeavor.

The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund: Each year, the children hold a silent auction. The funds raised are used to adopt an infant mountain gorilla. Each child receives an individual certificate of appreciation acknowledging his/her concern for these gentle giants, and the school receives a photograph of the adopted infant gorilla. The children take great pride in this accomplishment.
Not only does our small participation help those protecting our plant and environment, but this activity teaches a myriad of important values to our students and shows them how to care for their surroundings and for others.
