Working Together at CDM
Parent InvolvementParent volunteers are at the heart of Country Day Montessori. Parental involvement in the school helps keep CDM functioning at its best. Our diverse community can provide valuable enrichment activities for the students, and demonstrates parent interest in their child's education. Not to mention, it's a lot of fun.
We invite each household to contribute 20 hours of participatory time per school year. This time is logged by the parent in the Parents' Hours Logbook, located at the school entrance.

The Environment
Country Day Montessori fosters care and compassion for the Environment. At Country Day Montessori, we actively participate in several conservation programs and support many such endeavors around the globe.
Saving Our Rainforests
The children of CDM are actively involved in saving the earth's endangered rainforests. In conjunction with the Nature Conservancy, the children are encouraged to collect pennies throughout the year by doing "earth-friendly" chores. In addition, CDM has an ongoing recycling program to support our charitable endeavors.
Additional Charity Involvement
For 2015-2016 , 2017-2018 and the 2018-current school years, the school children chose Save the Polar Bears charity.

CDM & The Community
Country Day Montessori actively engages their students within the community. Through outreach and cooperation with various programs, our students build real world connections and have life experiences that encourage them to become positive members of our community. We have several activities that raise awareness of our community and surroundings such as:
Adopt a Family
Every year, during the holiday season CDM adopts a different family. Parents sign up to bring in items as gifts for the members of the adopted family. The children then help to wrap the presents.
Adopt a Grandparent
Some years, the children at CDM adopt a set of grandparents. The children make and wrap gifts, the deliver them with song and cheer. Our school community also provides a holiday meal for one of the families we adopt.
CDM St. Valentines
Another way CDM children help our environment and local community, is by doing something a little different for Valentine's Day. Instead of passing out individual valentines, the children make one giant Valentine that is delivered to a nursing home in the community.
These kinds of activities and positive interactions allow our children develop an awareness of not only their community but of the needs of others. They build empathy and caring and a sense of accomplishment and value.
